Punishment of cheating by personation
Section 419 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (Punishment of cheating by personation) corresponds to Section 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, in force from 1 July 2024. Under the BNSS First Schedule, BNS 319(2) is cognizable, bailable, triable by Any Magistrate; punishment: Imprisonment for 5 years, or with fine, or with both.
