(3) Whoever wrongfully confines any person for three days, or more, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees, or with both.

Wrongful confinement for three or more days
Section 343 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (Wrongful confinement for three or more days) corresponds to Section 127(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, in force from 1 July 2024. Under the BNSS First Schedule, BNS 127(3) is cognizable, bailable, triable by Any Magistrate; punishment: Imprisonment for 3 years, or fine of 10,000 rupees, or both.
