108. If any person commits suicide, whoever abets the commission of such suicide, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.

Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (Abetment of suicide) corresponds to Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, in force from 1 July 2024. Under the BNSS First Schedule, BNS 108 is cognizable, non-bailable, triable by Court of Session; punishment: Imprisonment for 10 years and fine.
