292. Whoever commits a public nuisance in any case not otherwise punishable by this Sanhita shall be punished with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees.

Section 290 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (Punishment for public nuisance in cases not otherwise provided for) corresponds to Section 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, in force from 1 July 2024. Under the BNSS First Schedule, BNS 292 is non-cognizable, bailable, triable by Any Magistrate; punishment: Fine of 1,000 rupees.
