246. Whoever fraudulently or dishonestly, or with intent to injure or annoy any person, makes in a Court any claim which he knows to be false, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, and shall also be liable to fine.

Section 209 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (Dishonesty making false claim in Court) corresponds to Section 246 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, in force from 1 July 2024. Under the BNSS First Schedule, BNS 246 is non-cognizable, bailable, triable by Magistrate of the first class; punishment: Imprisonment for 2 years and fine.
