Can I stop my neighbour's or relative's construction?
You can file a suit and ask the court to stop it while the case goes on. The court looks at who appears to have the right, and the harm if it isn't stopped.
Does an agreement to sell make me the owner?
No. The Supreme Court has held that an agreement to sell doesn't transfer ownership. A registered sale deed does.
How is family property divided?
By a family settlement or a partition suit. Each member's share depends on whether the property was self-acquired or ancestral, and on the succession law that applies.
