My electricity bill is wrong. Where can I complain?
First to the power company in writing. If it isn't fixed, to its Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum, then the Electricity Ombudsman. Consumer commissions have also heard billing complaints.
I've been charged with electricity theft. What now?
A theft assessment has to follow the inspection procedure, including the inspection report and the sealing and testing of the meter. Courts have set aside assessments where it wasn't followed.
Can they cut my connection?
Only after written notice under Section 56 of the Electricity Act. Paying the disputed amount under protest can stop the cut.
